Pedro Martinez and Tufts Dental Visit Arlington
A big thank you to Pedro and Carolina Martinez, the Pedro Martinez Foundation, Tufts Dental School and everyone who helped make this special visit to the Arlington School Complex possible today. Students learned about good dental hygiene in the 2nd and 3rd grades and the 8th graders enjoyed a cool question and answer session with Pedro and Carolina, such an awesome experience for our 8th graders.

Talented LHS Students Recognized Around the City
There's nothing better than seeing LPS students celebrated for their achievements, and some Lawrence High Lancers have been on quite a tour lately!
The Lawrence Alliance for Education, Lawrence City Council, Mayor Brian DePeña and Sen. Pavel Payano have recently sought to recognize varsity wrestler Hillary MacDonald (LHS Class of 2026) and the LHS Theater program. Hillary won her second straight state title this winter and theater took home an armful of hardware from February's National Performing Arts Festival (check them out this weekend performing Miss Saigon)!

LHS Theater Presents Miss Saigon
Opening Night was a success for LHS Theater, student vocalists were fantastic and the emotional musical received great audience response. You still have time to see this performance with another show Saturday, April 5, Friday April 11 and Saturday April 12 all shows starting at 6pm with a $5 ticket.

Merrimack Valley Welcome Center Kicks Off April 2025
The Merrimack Valley Welcome Center was launched at a special event in Lawrence High School this week. The Center provides support to youth in Lawrence with disabilities aged 14 and over as they transition to adulthood. Families can access information from several area agencies at the Welcome Center. Contact Elaine Davey, the LHS Transition Specialist for more information.

Flag Raised in Lawrence for Autism Awareness 2025
Colorful balloons decorated the Common while for the first time in the state of Massachusetts, an Autism Awareness flag was raised in a special ceremony. The City of Lawrence and autism advocates held the event on World Autism Day, April 2nd this year. Many local officials were in attendance and the Lawrence Public Schools Office of Student Support Services provided the event with information and activities for families.

Secretary of Education Tours Lawrence High School Campus 2025
Massachusetts Secretary of Education Patrick Tutwiler made his latest visit to Lawrence High School this week, joined by Mayor Brian A. DePeña, Senator Pavel Payano, and State Representatives Frank Moran and Estella Reyes. They toured campus with Head of School Victor Caraballo-Anderson and Superintendent Carrero, learning about current and upcoming programs and stopping in on an AP biology class.

Light Foundation Selects Four Future Leaders
Congratulations to the four Leonard School students selected to participate in the Light Foundation leadership program! The students signed the REAL (Responsible Ethical Accountable Leader) Pledge as the newest participants in the foundation's youth leadership curriculum, which helps young people develop a growth mindset so they can push through challenges and become motivated, productive and resilient adults.

Students in Science Museum Demonstration March 2025
5th grade students from the Guilmette Middle School had the opportunity to be a part of an electricity demonstration at the Museum of Science. Students participated in deeper learning activities that involved all topics of science and discovery.
