Lenstrumental Teaches Pen Tapping to 4th Graders
Lawrence High School grad Lennie Simo aka Lenstrumental worked with Ms. Duran's 4th grade music classes at Arlington Elementary School this week. Lennie has been pen tapping since 6th grade and touring the world since. It was a treat that he shared his technique with some very enthusiastic students. Keep an eye out for the videos. 2025 Sweetheart Dance
South Lawrence East Elementary families dressed up and came to school ready for the annual Sweetheart Dance. Lots of pink and red could be seen as everyone danced and enjoyed a fun, family party.

100th Career Win for Jean Carlos Martinez
Lancer Wrestling celebrated Senior Night last night and Senior Jean Carlos Martinez, pictured with his family, had even more to celebrate. JC completed his 100th career win in a match against Tewksbury. Congratulations on this impressive accomplishment!

Financial Aid Road Show 2025
Education Secretary Patrick Tutwiler, Higher Education Commissioner Noe Ortega and other state and local education leaders met with students at Lawrence High School as part of the Financial Aid Road Show to promote the state’s many financial aid programs and grants.
They want to spread the word and let students know there’s a historic level of financial aid available right now in Massachusetts. To learn more about free and affordable college, please go to the website MA.gov/studentaid

Guilmette Middle was Learning the Ropes
All grades at the Guilmette Middle got to participate in the Learning the Ropes program. Students worked on various jump rope activities on their own and in small groups lead by professional Jump Rope instructors and performing artists – Nick and Kaylee Woodward.This was an amazing day to exercise and try new skills!

Kicking off 2025 Girls in Sports Week
Lots of activities are planned this week to celebrate Girls in Sports Week! Girls 9-14 had the chance to learn soccer skills and try some protein-packed snacks when the New England Revolution Foundation and students from the Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences Department from UMass Lowell attended the first event. Girls enjoyed activities and soccer drills and each of the 40-plus participants went home with their own soccer ball.
Thanks to all who participated, and the City of Lawrence Office of Planning and Community Development, the Mayor's Health Task Force and Everyone's A Player for this collaboration.

ELPAC Brings a Crowd in January
Approximately 150 parents and guardians of Lawrence Public Schools students braved freezing temperatures last week to attend the ELPAC meeting held at the Lawrence Public Library. Thank you to everyone who came out to learn about and support their student's education!

Laser Focus at Guilmette Middle
The Guilmette Middle School 7th grade Science classes had an exciting hands on experience with learning more about lasers and lights. Students got to experiment with various lights and tools to measure light travel. Students and staff were “laser” focused!

Introducing the Multilingual Mobile Library
We are thrilled to introduce the Multilingual Mobile Library—The Libro Mobile carts have been delivered to Elementary and Middle schools across the District, bringing a wealth of culturally rich diverse books to our school hallways. The Multilingual Learner Department has delivered these carts to feature literature that reflects the native languages and cultures of our students. This carts fosters a love of reading while honoring the rich heritage of our multilingual learners.

DESE Commissioner Tours Future Schools in Lawrence
Acting Commissioner Russell D. Johnston recently toured the two schools currently under construction in Lawrence, the Leahy and Oliver Schools. He visited with his team from DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education), elected officials and school staff, including Mayor Brian A DePeña and Superintendent Carrero. Everyone was impressed with the modern facilities being created for our students and looking forward to the goal of opening these new facilities for the next school year.
