Saludos Lawrence Public Schools community.
With the conclusion of another successful school year in Lawrence Public Schools, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the contributions of every student, family, staff member and community supporter.
As I proudly make my way from one end-of-year celebration to another this spring – whether it is our record-breaking 791-student high school commencement, the Adult Learning Center graduation, the newest class of our paraeducator program, or this week’s middle school promotions – I am reminded again and again of the power of this community. For every individual achievement, there is a collection of loved ones, educators, support staff and partners making it possible. Congratulations and thanks go to each of you.
Before the year officially ends, please read below for important reminders about this summer:
- The last day of the school year is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24, and it is a half day. There is no afternoon pre-k.
- LPS is in the process of renewing its state-required Turnaround Plan, and we need your input. A brief survey is open now, and your response will help guide district priorities and strategies moving forward. Thank you for completing it in English or in Spanish when you have a few moments.
- Our 2026 Summer Reading lists for K-8 students are ready. They’ll be shared by your child’s school, posted to the LPS website, and copies of the selected books will be available at the Lawrence Public Library.
- The free Summer Meals program will begin serving breakfast and lunch every weekday at seven school locations on July 6. The Mobile Market will also continue over the summer. See the linked flyers for details.
- For everyone participating in summer school, the first day is Monday, July 6. See you in two weeks!
- Finally, please note the Family Resource Center is now open at its new home. This summer and moving forward they’ll be ready to support you at the Lawlor School building at 41 Lexington St.
Thank you all again for reading throughout this year, and please continue to follow LPS social media and other school communications over the summer. The upcoming school year will be another busy and important one for our schools and district, and there will be lots to share as we approach the first day of school on August 24!
Have a great summer,
Respectfully,
Ralph Carrero
Superintendent
Lawrence Public Schools
